The following meeting notice comes from the Clean Train Coalition:
Reminder: Clean Train General Meeting this Tuesday, June 22nd
The Clean Train Coalition will be holding a general meeting at Davenport Perth Neighbourhood Centre, 1900 Davenport Road, just west of Symington. The meeting will take place in the main hall/sanctuary.
We will be discussing our strategy to build support for the Clean Train movement in communities along the line and our plan to use the Clean Train Pledge Campaign and other strategic initiatives to pressure Premier McGuinty, who ultimately has the say.
We plan to reach out to community groups along the line, and hope that each can send a representative to learn about the pledge and take it back to their membership for review.
Everyone is welcome. Join us. Be part of the solution!

Judging from old photographs, the parks of this neighbourhood have been busy gathering places for many years. The image above of Carlton Park captures a festive day in 1914. And one of Perth Square shows a heated baseball game underway in 1920, played out in jackets and ties, with neighbours crowded at the fence.
Info from Councillor Giambrone's Ward 18 E-Newsletter:
Ward 18 will be hosting its Environment Day on Sunday, July 11 from 10:00am to 2:00pm in the Dufferin Mall parking lot.
Leaf compost will be available for free. You can also exchange a damaged green bin for a new one at no charge.
Residents will be able to purchase a Backyard Composter ($15), Green Bin ($18), Kitchen Container ($5), Indoor Water Efficiency Kit ($10), or Rain Barrel ($85).
Residents are also encouraged to drop off items such as old electronics, paint, batteries, and propane tanks for safe disposal and recycling. Donations of items such as clothing, books, CDs, and non-perishable foods will also be collected for reuse.
