My Reference Letter for Serendipity Play and Learn Childcare

Dear Parent(s),
This is my reference letter for Brenda and Maria RECE of Serendipity Play and Learn Childcare Providers (SPALCP).
Brenda and Maria have been providing care to our child since September 2011, and so far they have been delivering on everything they said they would in their philosophy, policies, etc.
I am happy to say that I have peace of mind when leaving my child in their care, because I know that during that time my child will:
-Be treated with loving kindness and respect
-Eat well-balanced, nutritious, homemade meals and snacks
-Actively participate/be engaged in circle time with music/songs, puppets, educational books and toys
-Play with their friends in a safe environment; clean, organized, well-supervised
-Get outside for some fresh air; play at a nearby park or enjoy a ride in the stroller
-Have designated quiet time for a good daily nap
-Experience other structured learning activities in group, independent and/or one-on-one settings which have included cultural days, cooking experiences, library excursions, craft-making
-Come home to Mommy and Daddy happy, calm, "just washed up" and/or smiling!
Aside from creating a warm, inviting atmoshere, the Childcare Providers have been good listeners and communicators along the way. I have appreciated their knowledge and expertise as RECEs (which they share gladly), the way they maintain daily routines (such as potty training), organize and run age-appropriate curriculum - providing us with quarterly newletters and a monthly program of events. They have implemented rules fairly and with positive reinforcement/redirection. Last, but certainly not least, they are dedicated to following health and safety regulations and overall hold themselves accountable to a very high standard of quality childcare.
I found out about SPALCP quite by chance, when I was a new (first-time) Mom, fearful and apprehensive about leaving my child with anyoneand fast-approaching the end of a one-year mat leave. And even though I still miss my child dearly at times, now when I think of my child I have the reassurance that my child is in good, capable hands, gaining independence and learning social skills, while I do what I need to help provide for our young family and keep my skills relevant in today's challenging work world.
I wish you all the best in your childcare search - Serendipity has proven to be the right place for us! A truly serendipitous experience!"

Super super dodgy

My husband and I applied and were rejected because they felt we didn't trust them when I called their references. They had refused to send me copies of their references contacts nor would they let me take a copy with me. So I remembered two that I saw and rang them. They used the excuse that we weren't ready for their childcare because we didn't seem to trust them. I would question anyone's professional credentials and experience if they cannot withstand even the most minor level of scrutiny. They thought I asked too many questions though they encouraged me to ask. I don't know them from Adam and I think I was justified in checking their references as should ANY PARENT. My questions like: do you ensure your kids are immunized or should I leave my healthcard with you, don't seem untoward. SUPER SUPER dodgy if they are afraid of having their references checked and if on the other daycare site, you are not able to leave any reviews. I would think twice before leaving your child in the hands of people afraid of questions and reference checks.

strange behaviour

Just wanted to confirm that you were right not to trust these childcare providers. My child was in their care for a few months until I removed her when I was told not to speak to other children's parents about the daycare. I felt it was totally natural that parents should want to speak about the care that their children were receiving and found it very suspicious that they were afraid to encourage this.

I honestly don't believe that

I honestly don't believe that these childcare providers have anything to hide - my child is in their care and I have never once questioned the care that they provide. They are both loving and caring towards my child and provide an excellent nurturing and learning environment and they make the best of the small space that they have. I also find that they give ample amounts of daily feedback re: activities, behaviour, etc.
It's a shame really that they display this overly secretive and sensitive behaviour (I have been witness to this also on a few occassions) as it puts in to question their integrity and abilities as childcare workers - things that have never been an issue for me. In the end it is important to keep an open dialogue between parents and providers (especially in such a business) and realize that not everything will be perfect (for both sides).

It was the first time I met

It was the first time I met ECE so devoted to their job. Brenda et Maria prepared every event (Christmas, birthday…) on her personal time .
Theyhave a strong ability to connect with children. For a first time mother, I feel secure and delight to see my son so happy . Brenda gave me so many good advices on how to deal with sleep issues, tantrums and Maria help me with potty trainnning…

Overall, I would definitely recommend this daycare

Serendipity Home Child Care

I have worked with the Owners of Serendipity Home Child Care. Both Brenda and Maria work with the utmost integrity. They are genuinely focussed and dedicated to the care of your child. I highly endorse the Child Care Services this team provides.

Wonderful Space

Went to view this centre. What a wonderful space! The staff is very knowledgeable with excellent credentials. Two Early Childhood Educators working together in one space, you wouldn't find that at other home care settings. Good luck to the both of you.
