Congrats!
Wanted to wish you at The Farmhouse Tavern, the BEST of luck. We hope that your hard work pays off for you as well as it has for us down the road here at Boo Radley's. We are very excited to have the neighbourhood "bookended" with another strong establishment at the other end of the "strip". The area has long needed dedicated, experienced people to realise the true potential of the hood.
Thanks for taking a chance on the Junction Triangle. If we can help... give us a call.

FARMHOUSE tavern
Hi Neighbours!
My name is Darcy MacDonell and I'm the owner of FARMHOUSE tavern. I'm pleased to see all the talk about my new place. I'm hoping it's a welcome addition to the neighbourhood.
Here is the 411
FARMHOUSE tavern: Serving farmhouse hospitality. Rooted in the charming influences of the rural Ontario farmhouse. A little bit country/ A lot rock & roll. Cooking a blackboard menu of farm driven food. Pouring Ontario craft brews + VQA juice.
I'm shooting to open on June 1st. I'm taking it slow to start to ensure we do it right. We will serve dinner Thursday through Sunday 5pm-12am and Brunch on Saturday + Sunday 11am-3pm. Come July we wil aim for some weekday patio lunches.
I was the opening GM of La Societe on Bloor. Not that the owner. I cut my teeth at Oliver & Bonacini. I was the GM of their Blue Mountain location for 3 years before opening their location in Oakville.
This is my dream come true. 15 years in the making. It's gonna be lots of hard work and lots of fun.
Hope to meet you all very soon!
Cheers,
Darcy

Hi Darcy,
I can safely say for most of the people who work and play in this community that your track record in the industry along with the sounds of your vision are indeed a welcome addition the neighborhood and we can only hope more people like yourself view this part of the city as an area that is bubbling for these sorts of places. I wish you the best of success and can guarantee you will build a loyal following if your product matches the vision. Congratulations!

Thank you for the welcome & enthusiasm
Welcome!
Welcome Darcy and FARMHOUSE Tavern!
I was a little worried when I saw the "sports bar" sign, what with the track record of dirty sports bars in this area, so I am so pleased to hear you are bringing a little more style and class back to the neighbourhood! Looking forward to the big opening.
Big opening
It may be a small & slow opening. I wanna do it right. But thank you!
New BIG window at the Farmhouse Tavern reno
Go for a walk by the new restaurant - they have new HUGE windows installed - this place is going to be AMAZING. Look at the attached archetectural drawings on the Farmhouse Taveern facebook page. I can't wait!
Thank you
Thanks for the enthusiasm & encouragement.
There's a new sign in front
There's a new sign in front of old Junes that says sports bar? ???
Does anyone know if this is just for filming purposes? I really hope there's not another dirty dive bar. Dupont needs a kick in the arse to start to re-vitalize itself to reflect the gentrification....
Restaurant AFTER filming at old June Harlowes
Spoke to someone this evening with the Junk Raiders 3 film team.
Here is a link to info on their project last season: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junk_Raiders_2
So - I guess they work with a minimal budget ($5000 ?) and a tight time frame (less than a month) and see if they can meet the challenge of improving the property. So, I am assuming they are going to be working there for a while, and I WAS told, that it will be a restaurant for use after the filming is done.
It will be shown on the Discovery Channel - should be pretty cool to see!
opening
since the trucks have been parked outside of my house for a few weeks, i'm now on a first name basis with some of the crew! the owner of this place also runs a place on bloor but the name escapes me now. i'm told that the restaurant will be using the "100 mile" diet approach, using local and organic suppliers. soft opening is expected in mid-may with official opening at the end of may. all signs point to this being great for the hood.

The Farmhouse Tavern
I heard a name for the new place they are playing with is, "The Farmhouse Tavern". I see exposed brick inside, and I like that...
Looks like you're right

I walked past last night and there was no sign...
june's
Its the latest in the ongoing saga at tht location. Landord v tenant. It is (after our spot at Boo's) the best location in the 'hood with the patio facing west. Rumour has it that a lease is not an option for that space and the results are usually an empty space within 18 months. Sorry to see it go but that location will NEVER be realised. Boo's is still the place to go.
New Restaurant at June Harlowe's?
Walked by today and saw there seems to be some painting and construction done at the old June Harlowe's - new restaurant in the making? Anyone know anything about this?
God only hopes it's more a June's than an Os Piratas!
Can anything be confirmed?
june's
for inquiring minds...i bumped into a couple of guys coming out of june's today. it is def. going to be another restaurant. they are currently renovating it as a restaurant for a movie shoot and once the movie is done, it will be an actual restaurant. they didn't say what kind though.....
June's
Unfortunately, yes.
RIP June Harlowe's
I really expected to see something here on June's before this.
I was there on the last night, and it was sad. The owner, Sandy, and the landlord could not come to a mutual decision that allowed June's to continue as the great neighbourhood business that it was. It was a unique spot on the Dupont strip, and was one of the few local desitinations that were appealing for many residents. People talke of how they would tell friends outside the hood to meet them at Junes, the theatre company that would go there after shows, or just having a close, walking distance place to go to that was warm, inviting and appropriately social. Ahhhhhh - June's! How we miss you - and how sad that the prior comment might end up being true about the property and the space being untennable to long term tenants. I hope we are wrong on that point - go with the wind, Sandy... Rest in peace, June Harlowe's...
