Jane's Walk: Daffodils in Davenport

Started in 2007, Jane's Walk is an annual event honouring the late urban thinker, activist, and writer Jane Jacobs. On May 5 and 6 2012, free walking tours will take place in cities all over Canada, the USA, and other countries around the world.

On Saturday May 5, starting at 5:00PM, the Daffodils in Davenport walking tour, guided by Andrea Dawber and Claude Bergeron, will start at Wadsworth Park, and finish at Campbell Park.

GreenHere has been planting thousands of daffodils every year since 2005 in Davenport neighbourhood spaces. By working with schools, corporate volunteers, community and park groups, youth programs, the City and the Toronto Parks and Trees Foundation, Spring in Davenport officially arrives with 50,000 blooming daffodils. The tours will visit some public space projects and highlight a number of the issues and opportunities that arise for communities wishing to green and reinvest in local public spaces.

The walk will wind through a number of parks and parkettes, visiting a few community projects that illustrate what communities can accomplish when people work together as well as what issues may arise in moving forward.
