Oasis Spring Run

Aiming to raise $15,000 for the Oasis Dufferin Community Centre, on Saturday, May 25, 2013, participants of all ages will Walk or Run for a great cause.

In support of the centre’s programs, they will raise pledges for their four- or eight-km walk or run at the West Toronto Railpath.

Opened in 1994, Oasis Dufferin Community Centre has since served more than 125,000 food bank clients consisting of newcomers to Canada and residents of its Dufferin-Bloor neighbourhood. Today, Oasis practices holistic community development by advocating for clients, cooperating with local partners to run children’s programs, and by targeting the remaining gaps in services, such as seniors programs, counselling, and training youth in civic engagement.

“Oasis has helped many newcomers in Canada, and the funds we raise allow us to continue this meaningful work,” said Chris Ortiz, Executive Director of Oasis.

“It is amazing to see the relationships that develop which build true community in this great city of Toronto.

We are so very grateful for the participants who are not only walking or running during this event, but who have also given their time to raise much-needed funds for the Oasis community.”

The event begins with registration at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2013, on the West Toronto Railpath at the Wallace Ave. Bridge.
