Junction Triangle Municipal Election Issues Forum: Summary and Photos

On Thursday, August 26th 2010, Boo' Radley's on Dupont St. hosted the Junction Triangle Municipal Election Issues Forum. This was a somewhat different take on an All Candidates meeting: Instead of a slate of candidates up on a stage talking down to an audience, this event encouraged candidates and voters to mingle amongst each other, having one-on-one conversations.

Six out of the ten registered candidates attended: Ana Bailao, Kevin Beaulieu, Doug Carroll, Nha Le, Joe MacDonald, and Hema Vyas. I didn't count, but I would roughly guess that about sixty residents came out.

I personally think the event went extremely well. Speaking with other neighbours at the event, it seemed there was a consensus that the event was worthwhile, and that voters had a good chance to learn more about the candidates. Thanks to the organizers, the Junction Triangle Rail Committee, and the gracious hosts Mike and Shelley from Boo Radley's.

Thanks to Junction Triangle and Boo's

It was a great night, and a terrific format for candidates and constituents to talk about ideas and issues in the neighbourhood.

Thanks and congratulations to the Junction Triangle and Boo Radley's for organizing and hosting!

Thank You Boo Radley's

Many thanks to Michael and Shelly at Boo Radley's for hosting the Municipal Election Issues Forum last night. It was a great success! Nice to see so many people from the neighbourhood out to chat with the candidates and I left with a clear impression that everyone enjoyed the event. Perhaps this is the start of something special in the Junction Triangle.

About last Thursday!

Both Shelley & Michael want to thank first Kevin for organising the meet & greet and second, to all of you from the 'Hood who took the time to drop by and participate in the democratic process. The evening was a very productive one on many levels, not the least of which was a chance for folks to meet others from the ward who live south of our little pocket here on Dupont.
Everybody gained something last Thursday. It is great to see so many taking an active role in what is happening in our neighbourhood!
See you all soon (we hope!)
Michael & Shelley
