visitor's parking Enterphone

I spoke with Peter at Taft today about the Enterphone for visitors. He said that until he receives ~ 90% of the filled-in forms he won't send someone out to program it. If you haven't filled it out yet, please do otherwise visitors will have to pay for parking which is unnecessary since we do have free visitor's parking. If you don't have the forms I have posted a copy on the BOB owners website http://ca.groups.yahoo.com/group/brownstonesonbloor in the file section. Air Conditioners

we are in the wallace development, has anyone had issues with the air conditioner not putting out enough cold air? We can t get ours down past 26 degrees

This has been a major issue

This has been a major issue with many complaints. I believe we determined that the Tarion standard is 24 deg and most units do not meet that standard. Call customer service and complain, they may not be of much help but at least it's documented so when you add it to your 1 year warranty claim you'll be able to show a history of issues.

I'm confused why everyone is

I'm confused why everyone is excited about registering. The rent right now is absolutely dirt cheap compared to carrying a mortgage, and even if you have the money you could get a better return if it was invested then in the developer's pocket. They can keep this going as long as possible as far as I'm concerned.

Car Broken Into!

The back window of my car was broken and a few things were stolen from my car in the BOB garage last night.

The North Entrance is often left wide open by careless residents. In addition, the locks to the garage are easy enough to jimmy open.

Hi

Just wondering how the pool will work, are we sharing it with 1369 Bloor? Or is it just ours. I guess either way will it be fenced off so other people can't use it? And I'm guessing it may not be active until next year anyway at this point.

It seems like a waste of money to me, so I was just curious if we're splitting the operating costs with a larger base.

garbage on ground

My pet-peeve is people leaving garbage sitting on ground when the chute is obviously not working.
What do they think that their mothers live here? Someone also got a new BBQ because they dumped
their old one over by the new staircase down to Bloor. Not acceptable!!!
Maybe we can be pro-active and tell new people that there are two (2) garbage chutes and that if both
are broken to take stuff to the two garbage rooms in the garage.
Large items won't go down chute, which is probably what is causing them to malfunction.
Anyway that's my rant for now. Hope everyone had a good Canada Day.

Closet Organizers

I would like to share my experience with a custom closet organization company named Next Generation Woodwork. I recently hired this young energetic company to design and build 3 custom closets in my unit (upper). I did a lot of my research and even got a few other quotes to make sure the prices and the work being offered were similar. I have to say these guys were awesome! They spent time to design the spaces that would work best for me and really help with providing cost effective options. They manufacture everything in their shop and took not more than half a day to assemble it in my home. Even after the closets were built I had some minor changes that I wanted and they without any hesitation were back 2 days after to finish the job to my satisfaction.

I am re-hiring these guys to put down some hardwood.

If anyone is looking for a good woodworker I would definitely recommend these guys.

Garbage again

Again, people are leaving their garbage lying about
or trying to stuff it down a chute that is obviously Not Working.
Please there are two (2) chutes, the one in question
is South-West on the property and not Working
The other is North-East on the property and is Working.
If both are not working take your garbage to the
Garbage rooms in the garage. There are two of them.
Yes that would be a pain, the alternate is your garbage being
strewn about by animals or people or worse attracting rats.
Let’s keep our property clean and smell-free.

Painting

I live in an upper unit and had 90% of it painted this past weekend by a company named Droopy Painting. I have to say these guys were great! They worked almost 13 hours straight and got the job done in one day. They did two coats and and in some area's three. There was very little mess and they cleaned up after the work was complete. The owner even called us the next day to make sure we were happy with the job. If anyone is looking to get their unit painted I would definitely recommend this company.

A wall would prevent any maintenance of the appliances. You could replace with sliders, if desired. My bathroom door already opened the opposite way as well.

Please remember that your neighbors can hear your loud music, and that you are likely to get noise complaints. Please turn your music down after 11pm.

Confirmed, the base of the

Confirmed, the base of the loud music got really annoying last mid-night - the music was on until around 2-3 am. I do not have the noise issue usually, even our neighbour has young kids I do not hear anything. However during a quiet night the base from the loud music just penetrates the cement walls from unit to unit. I do not blame the quality of the sound proof, since it would happen at any type of condo, apartment or row houses. this is a tenant behavioral issue.

Feel free to call the police

Everyone should know that it is within your rights to call the police anytime after 11 pm if neighbours noise is disturbing you. (Non emergency phone # is 416-467-0493). It really sucks that our condo development is being treated as a party zone every weekend. Have some respect for your neighbours.

Does anyone know how to turn on the air conditioning in our units? I've tried changing the thermometer on the wall to cooling and 62 but nothing happens. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Visitor Parking

I noticed that they have put up the signs for visitor parking in the underground. Does anyone know when the keypad will be activated for guests to buzz into the garage?

Also, anyone else notice the dark green sedan that has been parked in the visitor garage continuously for the past two months? I want legit visitors to have access to parking and not have the spots taken by residents that won't pay for a spot. Can we have cars ticketed and/or towed now or do we need to wait for registration to enforce the rules?

Taft property management is taking over and Peter just went to look at the situation last week. The visitor will only open once the residents of BOB let them in. Also, all residents buying at BOB had to purchase a parking spot, it was mandatory. For any issues now we will need to contact them. you should have gotten that information in the mail.

NOISE

Hi, I am looking into buying a unit at either BOB or BOW and I am concerned about noise. I lived in a coop apt for 10 years before now and could hear things like doors opening, running water and peeing (yeah that one I'm not sure why) these things never bothered me and I never heard anything else. What would bother me, and what I'm inquiring about is things like talking, TV's, music or screaming kids, pets, things like that through the walls. What are people's experiences so far? Have you had any problems with these types of noises? Also, can you hear the trains at BOW? I've been doing some research on how often they run and the verdict of the Metrolinx / GO Transit project that was a big issue re. diesel, in 2009 but haven't yet found any results for this. Can anyone give me any info on these items? It would be much appreciated. Thanks and enjoy your new homes!
