Flowers and plants stolen from front yard

A Perth Ave. resident and reader of this website had flowers and plants dug up from her front yard overnight. This is what she wrote:

I thought I'd mention something that happened to me last night. Some SOB literally dug up the flowers in my front yard during the night - they are gone! Stolen! It must be the most bizarre thing that has happened to me since I've lived here. It's frustrating and insulting and it's trespassing and theft - not to mention, how cheap must you be to go around digging up other people's plants.

Anyway, I live on Perth Street near Antler, and I just wanted to let you know about this. One of my neighbours once had a rose bush stolen during the night from their front yard too.

If you happen to see anyone in the area with a brand new bunch of low, spreading nasturtiums, with round green leaves and orange flowers, or any new vines, which are my moonflowers that were starting to grow up the fence and are supposed to bloom at night, well, those are mine.

Has anyone else had this happen, or heard of other people getting flowers stolen? I can imagine this being really annoying and frustrating, especially when it can take so much time to plant and care for a garden.

Garden Thefts/Garbage Dumping

Sorry to hear about your garden. While I have not had this happen, I have had a constant problem of people dumping garbage in my parking pad. I'm sure it is the same people who use the garbage bins at the bus stops, or the parks, for their household waste.

I've always followed the policy of "If you see something, say something" questioning things that just don't seem right....Hence my argument with the woman dropping her trash at the bus stop and heading off to work..

If someone sees me as 'that jerk who hassled me about dumping my garbage at the bus stop', who cares, they were the jerk first, in my humble opinion.

I'm near Perth and Antler as well, so if I see your plants, I'll be sure to complemetnt the new owner, and then pass along the request to return them to their original owner...

;)

Good on you Raph for saying

Good on you Raph for saying something. Our neighbourhood is really starting to come around and people like this keep trying to hold us back. As someone who lives on the alley I've constantly had people dumping on my property, from cans and food containers right up to shopping carts and bbqs. I hope that more people will act as Raph did and make a fuss, our neighbourhood deserves it!

I walked by a house on

I walked by a house on Rusholme the other day that had a sign on the yard that read " you have 24 hours to return all of the plants you have stolen. If you do not return them all of the neighbors will be gathering on your lawn because we know who you are!"

garden thefts

Wow -- wonder if this is the same thief who stole my newly planted cluster of forget-me-nots the day before Mother's Day. And snipped off some tulips too. I always assumed they served as an easy gift, but maybe they were for this person's garden. Hard to imagine people who grow things could also be people who steal things. Would love to know who the culprit is!

Flowers Stolen

The Community Garden at Symington and Rankin has had flowers stolen from it on a few occasions. Maybe because it is a community garden people thinking that that means the community can help themselves. I am sorry this has happened to you and will keep my eyes open for any new plantings.
