Book Launch - Local author Kristen den Hartog

Announcement from Freehand Books:

APRIL 19: Freehand Books launches new titles from Kristen den Hartog, Michael Murphy, and Ian Williams at the Gladstone Hotel.

A seven-foot-tall girl who towers over adults struggles to fit in with the other kids in her small town. A Choose-Your-Own-Adventure-obsessed teenager roams the streets of Toronto during the 2003 blackout searching for signs of the coming apocalypse. A pair of university students study homemade Korean flashcards; the loser has to strip.

Swing by the ballroom at the Gladstone Hotel on April 19 to hear these stories and more. Freehand authors Kristen den Hartog, Michael Murphy, and Ian Williams will read from their new books, and the ubercool ladies of Bangs&Blush will be on hand spinning the best in Motown, soul, and 60s rock & roll. There will be free snacks, a cash bar, and a few games to boot. Not too shabby for a Tuesday night...

Many people in our neighbourhood are already familiar with Kristen den Hartog's work. Members of the Perth-Dupont Public Library's Book Club read her novel Water Wings, and participated in a group discussion at the library back in October 2009. Personally, I have read her non-fiction World War II family history, The Occupied Garden, and thought it was fantastic.

So come on out and support one of our local talents on April 19th.
