Community Open Houses

Come and Learn More about the Georgetown South Service Expansion and Union-Pearson Rail Link Project.

Background

Metrolinx is leading the process to evaluate the environmental impact of the proposed expansion of GO service between Bathurst Street in Toronto and Highway 427 in Peel Region so that more trains can operate to meet rising demand. This also enables a new rail service between Union Station and Pearson International Airport.

The project involves:

  • New tracks and building/improving stations, platforms, bridges and underpasses to enhance service and to provide a safe separation between trains, motor vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians.

The Process

The project will be evaluated under the Province of Ontario’s Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP). In February 2009, Metrolinx hosted a series of Open Houses prior to the formal start of the process. The purpose of those Open Houses was to present the revised proposed project and hear initial community feedback before the Notice of Commencement was issued.

On April 2, 2009, Metrolinx issued a Notice of Commencement. This marked the beginning of the formal TPAP process and the 120-day consultation period, which will end when a Notice of Completion is issued.

Get Involved – Drop by an Open House

As part of the formal consultation process, Metrolinx will host two rounds of Open Houses. The first round will share information on current environmental conditions and the scope of the preferred project, as well as identify changes as a result of public input.

Local residents are encouraged to drop in, view the materials on display, and speak to the technical team to learn more.

Can’t make it – starting April 15, visit our Virtual Open House. Online, convenient, and open 24/7, the revised project details will be available for public review and your comments.

The Open Houses are just one part of Metrolinx’s commitment to ongoing community consultation. For more information and project details, please visit www.metrolinx.com/gsse, call 1-866-658-9890, or email info@metrolinx.com.
