Fuzzy Boundaries Announces Updated Voting Process

Next Steps to Naming Our Neighbourhood

We have listened to residents, and modified the name-finding process to address what we feel are valid concerns. Your vote does count, and the voting process is already underway, but will now take place in two stages. No jury will be involved.

Voting process

I had some reservations about Fuzzy's previous naming/voting process but having just read the new guidelines I am quite comfortable with the revisions. I think the process is now as fair and democratic as possible. I would like to thank the Fuzzy members (all volunteers!) for their hard work and due diligence. I'm looking forward to seeing the short list at the end of the month.

Not clear on a couple of things

Regarding the updated voting process. It was great to hear that the panel idea was scraped and that the residents will finally get to chose their own community name.

What I am not clear on is:

1) Will there be a door-to-door canvass to inform the residents about the naming of the community.

2) Why is the voting been done in two stages?

Lastly, why are we asking the residents to choose from a list of names?

This I believe this will influence the residents vote. I don't find this to be a free vote, when they have to choose from a list of names. Jack

Fuzzy Boundaries Discussion

The discussion is going to get splintered if people copy and paste questions/comments from the Fuzzy Boundaries site on to the South Junction site too. The South Junction site should be left for all the other community discussion since Fuzzy Boundaries has a stand-alone site. There is no point in crowding other legitimate discussion here. There is a prominent link on the main page of this site to the Fuzzy Boundaries site and you will find a reply to your questions Jack in the Fuzzy Boundaries forum at http://www.fuzzyboundaries.ca/node/8#comment-441

Fuzzy Discussions

Good point, Kevin. Let's keep followups on this topic in one place. I'm closing comments on this item here, but you can continue to read/post feedback on the Fuzzy Boundaries site.
