I'd prefer if things in the Junction Triangle group were actually within the railway borders, or right around that edge.
My experience of living here also includes High Park, the waterfront, Duffering Grove, Chinatown, the Humber River, etc. but it doesn't really fit in with the geographical context of this group.
I've got a few local pictures. Some of them are from High Park, and the waterfront; which is part of my experience living here.
So, how fuzzy are your boundaries?
The current hours are as follows: Tues & Wed 5-10 (bar open until 11); Thurs-Sat 5-11 (bar open until 2 am). Lunch hours and Sunday brunches coming soon. I think this place is going to be great for the hood!
Not sure of my schedule for the rest of the week, but I am working Thursday night (tomorrow). And if you're headed there on Saturday night, June Harlowe Foods now has their liquor license...and a really great menu!
The Community Garden at Symington and Rankin has had flowers stolen from it on a few occasions. Maybe because it is a community garden people thinking that that means the community can help themselves. I am sorry this has happened to you and will keep my eyes open for any new plantings.
My husband and I had dinner there on Friday. It was great. The decor is very low key and lovely.
Supposedly the chef worked for Mark McEwan.
The food was very good.
I had pulled pork and apple compote toasts, the asparagus salad and the steak frites.
The steak was great, but the frites were really just frozen fries.
They have no LCBO licence yet.
Overall I would say goodbye cheesy sports bar and hello June Harlow.
A great addition to the 'hood!!
brenda, you can come visit me there....i've landed a part-time waitressing gig starting tonight. the owners name is sandy and she's really nice and very excited to be in our neighbourhood.
My daughter and I saw your signs yesterday and we were discussing where your cat might be as we were looking at the so-called Brownstones. We are very relieved to hear you have found the little Buggy!
We found him this morning in the basement of one of the Brownstones on Wallace, petrified in a corner. Many thanks to the neighbourhood for your help and support and to the construction workers who helped in our search this weekend!
My cat wandered away too. Put signs up everywhere in a 1 km circle around your house. My cat was found a few streets over, and I wouldn't have been contacted without the signage.
Place some of his litter around your house and he should eventually find home. Also, cats are sensitive to the voices of their owners, so spend some time outdoors chatting. Good luck. It is not uncommon for cats to wander away for a couple of days (my cats were once indoor cats also).
Hi,
Yes, my son and I walked by yesterday to get a closer look. It definitely looks like an inviting atmosphere and hopefully, tasty menu.
I noticed they open at 5:00 p.m. Anyway, it is nice to have more options.
Also noticed another newly refurbished place called "Image Foundary" on south side of Dupont a few doors down from library.
Cheers.
I've always thought polls did a great disservice to democracy.
They tend to trivialize what should be a well thought out and complex choice of who would best serve a community's needs. They are in effect a juvenile sort of popularity contest, much like a beauty pageant that looks only skin deep, attempting to reduce substance to the level of "appearance" of skill.
Lazy voters often vote on just recognizing a name, with no other information.
(Then again, the laziest voters simply don't vote and placate themselves by saying "ah they're all the same - crooks - why bother")
Polls give the lazy voter the opportunity to jump on a perceived bandwagon and feel their forced choice must be right becauase some percentage of others seem to agree.
It would serve democracy better if public polls were banned for 6 months prior to elections. The voter should do the work of informing themselves and asking questions. In a democracy that is the voters job, not some media or polling company.
Haven't had the chance to go in yet, but this is the newest culinary addition to the Dupont strip - and it just opened. I've heard great things so far, and it also looks like a clean, inviting and interesting place I would like to support and visit. They are offering a discount to local JT residents for a while, from what I understand as well
I hope as many people as possible come out to this; however, I am going to a wedding in London (but I will be taking a soccer ball to play with my son!)
Normally I would be around, and normally I will not be having any more kids (ie. newborns), so I will most likely be around for most other Fridays.
For those who don't know, there is a bunch of local kids that like to play to fill in the gaps for lack of adult players - and they are usually good and fun to play with too.
Funny how you only brought it to attention after closing the poll. You certainly didn't encourage anyone on this site to vote. If I were Ana I'd be distancing myself from these kinds of sleazy tactics. I don't think the paper poll at the meet & greet is appropriate either.
I don't understand the point of your informal polls and why would you continue to keep conducting one "throughout the election"? Unless it's an Angus Reid poll, I really don't get it?
After the long-form census debacle, I wonder if this guy is a Tory because they are the only people who think self-selecting survey respondents produce valid/useful information.
Thanks for the recommendation - will have to try this sometime. While I'm new to the neighbourhood, the Dupont strip between Landsdowne and the overpass looks like an interesting mix between old and new. Lots of potential!

Sharon,
Are you working Saturday night? We are coming for a date night!
The Community Garden at Symington and Rankin has had flowers stolen from it on a few occasions. Maybe because it is a community garden people thinking that that means the community can help themselves. I am sorry this has happened to you and will keep my eyes open for any new plantings.
Hey Sharon,
What are the hours of operation for the restro?

All the best - have a "ball"!

Who's coming to soccer tonight (Friday July 30)? I hope to be there.

Your poll is quite unscientific. : )
I put up a poll for Ward 18 earlier this month and encouraged people to place a vote.

I am going to conduct more polls throughout the election.
