Yasi's Place Bike-In Movie Night

On June 6th 2009, local restaurant Yasi's Place hosted their annual outdoor "bike-in" movie night. This event takes place as part of the City of Toronto's Bike Month, bringing out local residents and cyclists from all over the city to watch outdoor films at the corner of Wallace and Campbell.

Local cycling movie collector Martin Reis emceed the evening, introducing a selection of fun short films, followed by a kid-friendly feature-length movie. Yasi's Place provided free popcorn, plus other movie concession snacks (candy, ice cream, drinks, etc.) delivered right to the seats!

It was a great night out. Can't wait until next year.

Boo Radley's Second Anniversary Party

We recently received this email from Mike and Shelley, owners of Boo Radley's at the corner of Dupont and Campbell. Their bar and grill has been in business for two years, and they are celebrating their anniversary this Friday.

Their pub is a great spot to drop in and have a drink in our neighbourhood, and the food really hits the spot too. Mike and Shelley have also expressed interest in getting more involved with our community, including offering up meeting space at Boo Radley's.

Why Lansdowne is on the up and up

Saturday's National Post had an article by Leah Sandals, Why Lansdowne is on the up and up.

The article mainly focuses on the local art scene that is migrating to our neighbourhood, particularly from Queen St. West. Three major art projects are mentioned:

  1. Georgia Scherman Projects at 300 Campbell Ave.
  2. Public Art, by Dyan Marie and Richard Mongiat
  3. Toronto Free Gallery at 1277 Bloor St. W.

As the article says, "Grab a coffee at local fave Yasi's Place and come along."

You can view the article online at the National Post Website, or view a PDF of the article here.

Thanks to Joan for bringing this article to our attention!
