Friday Evening Pleasure Skate at Campbell Park

From Michael:

Pleasure skating is doing well at Campbell rink. We are getting steady numbers for our Saturday, Sunday and Monday pleasure skating periods. This Friday January 28 from 6 to 9pm, partly as an experiment, we will be holding a special evening pleasure skating event, with campfire and music. We would like to invite everybody to come out to skate and drink hot chocolate by the fire. Pleasure skating is a great way to meet your neigbhours while getting some easy-paced outdoor exercise.

First day of Campbell Park skating season

The skating season at Campbell Park starts today, Saturday December 4, and goes until February 27, 2011.

Although Campbell Park's ice rink is mostly used for hockey, there is a growing demand for pleasure skating time. This year, a new pleasure skating session has been added to the Saturday afternoon schedule, from 4-6PM.

Saturday Schedule:

  • 10:00am – 4:00pm All Ages Hockey
  • 4:00pm – 6:00pm Pleasure Skating (no hockey)
  • 6:00pm - 9:00pm All Ages Hockey

The complete skating schedule is available here on Campbell Park's website.

Further discussion and details about this year's skating season can be found here.

Campbell Park rink opens Saturday December 4

The 2010-2011 outdoor ice skating season at Campbell Park kicks off on Saturday December 4th. There is a scheduled mix of shinny, pleasure skating, and paid-use times.

With the growing success of the family-oriented pleasure skating sessions and feedback from the community, a new 2-hour pleasure skating time slot has been added to this year's schedule: Saturdays from 4-6PM, Sundays from 1-3PM, and Mondays after school 3:30-5:30PM.

Friday Soccer night at Campbell Park

After the success of the first pick-up soccer game last Friday at Campbell Park, it was decided to make this a weekly event.

When: Friday July 23, 7:30PM, and every Friday after that
Where: Campbell Park - South Field - meet north of Splash Pad
Who?: Anyone can play. All-ages and abilities.

To quote Craig, the organizer:

I think we can shoot for another Pickup Soccer game next Friday again at 7:30, for those who came out and for others who might be interested in coming out and enjoying a good, non-competitive run on the field. For that (and for others who might have been confused should they have come out and found loads of people already at the park), we will meet near the splash pad, between the fields. Anyone else who cares to join for an informal picnic before the soccer, feel free to join in and bring the kids - the spash pad is actually open until 7pm now, and the playground is right beside it!
