Friday Night Supper is back tonight at Dufferin Grove, 6-7:30pm. It's good to come early because on busy night food sometimes runs out before 7:30. Tonight's menu is posted here: http://dufferinpark.ca/oven/wiki/wiki.php/FridayNightSuppers.FrontPage
Also, please note the wading pool snackbar will be open all weekend.
There won't be a community supper this Friday at Dufferin Grove. The snackbar at the wading pool will also be closed this weekend. Below is a public statement issued by CELOS, a research group that over the years has contributed to programming at the park.
Why there’s NO Friday Night Supper nor Weekend playground cafe this week:
- because there are not enough Dufferin Grove program staff left to cook and serve, and clean and help setup and then put away all the dishes.
To celebrate the Railpath, and promote health within our communities on September 30th, 2012 a community run/walk will be held on the West Toronto Railpath. The charitable partner for the event will be The Stop Community Food Centre.
This event has a unique format that differentiates it from other local running events. Instead of a set distance (such as 5km), this is a timed lap-based event. In 45 minutes, participants will complete as many laps of the 2.1 km stretch as possible. This is great to practice your speedwork as a competitive runner, or not be overwhelmed by needing to complete a big distance as a new runner or casual walker. There is something for everyone, and you decide what that is for you!
There are lots of prizes available for participants and every registrant before September 7th will receive a commemorative t-shirt and shoe-tag medal. Refreshments after the event are also included. We'd love to see lots of participation from the local Junction Triangle community!
Details about the event are here: railpathcommunityrun.wordpress.com

Georgetown South Project
Construction UpdateThe West Toronto Diamond Grade Separation Project is an important rail infrastructure project that will eliminate a major bottleneck at the most heavily used rail crossing in Canada. When completed, GO trains on the Kitchener line will pass below CP freight lines, and this will improve service reliability, reduce noise, and allow for future service improvements to reduce congestion in the northwest of Toronto.
Annual CP Rail Track Closure
Extended Hours: 24 Hours a day from July 3 -16What we are doing
- Removing CP Rail’s connecting track and excavating the roadway so we can work on the walls of the lowered rail corridor in this area
- Cleaning and reinforcing the pipe piles
- Forming tunnels under the tracks and roadway to prepare for the final bridge installation and excavation of the corridor
How this will affect you
- Work will take place for 24 hours a day due to the short period of time available during the annual CP Rail track closure. This track closure is only available once a year for approximately two weeks.
- This work does not produce elevated levels of noise or vibration. Nearby residents may hear the sounds of construction equipment operating and see lighting in the work area overnight.
Please note: This work is crucial to reopening the rail crossing at Junction Road and Old Weston Road. We plan to reopen the rail crossing in September. It will need to be closed in late 2012 or early 2013 for 2 to 3 months to install the north bridge portion. It will then close again in the fall of 2013 for a few months to install the south portion.
