GO Transit is committed to keeping you informed about our construction activities and infrastructure projects. The project involves station enhancements, including a new barrier-free pedestrian tunnel and rehabilitation of the existing pedestrian access from Bloor Street. The improved Bloor GO Station will also feature an Air Rail Link stop, providing a seamless connection from Union Station to Pearson International Airport .

You are invited to attend our public information session to learn about the upcoming plans for Bloor GO Station. Representatives from GO Transit, as well as the project’s consultants, will be on hand to answer questions.

7th Annual Pumpkin Lighting in Carlton Park

PLEASE JOIN US for our annual Pumpkin Lighting in Carlton Park (on Edith Avenue) on Thursday, November 1st, 2012, starting at 6:30 p.m. and continuing to midnight.

Bring your jack-o-lanterns (with a tealight inside), line them up around the splash pond, and light them in a dazzling display of Halloween creativity that will delight children and adults alike. At midnight, the lights will be doused and the pumpkins left at the park for the City to pick up the next day for composting.

Children have a wonderful time dashing about and playing with each other in the twilight, while adults have a chance to visit and get to know their neighbours in this fun community-building event.

So invite your friends and neighbours, bring a thermos of hot cocoa or cider and your pumpkins, and come enjoy this creative community gathering before we all hibernate for the winter!

Green Line Ideas Competition

The following note comes from Victoria at Davenport MPP Jonah Schein's office. Although this "Green Line" would be just slightly outside the Junction Triangle, so of you may be interested in the idea (I certainly am).

Hello,

Last week Helena Grdadolnik, with the Davenport Neighbourhood Resident's Association is developing a community project called the Green Line Ideas Competition. The competition will contribute to a vision for the public use of a hydro corridor/green space from Landsdowne and Davenport to Spadina, north of Dupont.

Helena has received support for the project from the Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Association of Architects, Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and the Toronto Society of Architects and Spacing Magazine.

I told Helena that I would share this information with some active community members near the hydro corridor. Please get in touch with Helena if you are interested in this project. She is available by phone at 416 901 8055 and by email at helena@publicworkshop.ca

Thanks,
Victoria

Ward 18 Planning Townhall

Anyone interesting in local planning issues in the Junction Triangle or anywhere in Ward 18 may be interested in attending this meeting hosted by councillor Ana Bailao. You can download a PDF copy of the event flyer here.

Dear Ward 18 Community [please distribute this notice to your group members and any others who may be interested]:

As you are no doubt aware, Ward 18 is going through a great deal of growth and development due to the fact that we live in a very desirable area. Many new developments are currently being proposed and this will have a future impact on Ward 18. While change is coming, we have a tremendous opportunity to manage this change, to guide this process, and to work together for a combined vision of what we want to see for our neighbourhoods.

I strongly believe that at the heart of a successful planning process is the involvement and feedback of local residents. For this reason, I have organized a Ward-wide Planning Townhall, to invite residents to review and comment on the various development applications coming forward. On October 27th from 1:00-4:00PM, please join me, members of City Planning, local developers, community groups and fellow neighbours at St. Helen's School (1196 College Street).

Please review the information presented in the attached flyer and contact my office if you have any questions.

I hope to see you there!

Sincerely,
Ana Bailão
