So - I guess they work with a minimal budget ($5000 ?) and a tight time frame (less than a month) and see if they can meet the challenge of improving the property. So, I am assuming they are going to be working there for a while, and I WAS told, that it will be a restaurant for use after the filming is done.
It will be shown on the Discovery Channel - should be pretty cool to see!
There's a new sign in front of old Junes that says sports bar? ???
Does anyone know if this is just for filming purposes? I really hope there's not another dirty dive bar. Dupont needs a kick in the arse to start to re-vitalize itself to reflect the gentrification....
I meant to add a link to more reviews here: http://www.yelp.ca/biz/stella-toronto You'll see the stellar comments come from the people who actually ate the food...
Hi Mark,
My apologies I posted out the meeting noitices and hand delivered over 120 notices door to door, if you are outside of the direct South Perth and Sterling Road area, just send me an email with your contact info and I will make sure you get notified of future events.
We have a street Cleanup date scheduled for April 21 starting at 9am, feel free to come by meet the residents who are active on the project and get to know the principals involved in this too.
Hi -
As a nearby resident (bloor/lansdowne) who has attended most of these meetings I would have appreciated more notice in order to have been able to attend this one. Certainly residents just east of the tracks are just as interested in what is planned as those on Sterling/Perth! Perhaps an email based on past sign-up sheets? I do however appreciate the level of engagement that the company has offered to the community.
If someone who attended could give a few highlights, I would be grateful.
For anyone who hasn't heard, St. Luigi's and Perth were one of the winners for the grant!! Great job to all of those who worked tirelessly to get this grant. That is one step towards creating a new school yard for the children of this community.
The Castlepoint meeting is happening this Thursday at 6:30, This meeting is to present what has been changed since the last meeting- where they are in terms of plans for the opening of a sales centre and other items of interest to the general neighbourhood.
Notices were dropped off over the past 2 weekends (by me)- and also indicate the date of the Spring Cleanup for April 21, for the South Perth and Sterling Road areas
for inquiring minds...i bumped into a couple of guys coming out of june's today. it is def. going to be another restaurant. they are currently renovating it as a restaurant for a movie shoot and once the movie is done, it will be an actual restaurant. they didn't say what kind though.....
Walked by today and saw there seems to be some painting and construction done at the old June Harlowe's - new restaurant in the making? Anyone know anything about this?
God only hopes it's more a June's than an Os Piratas!
Can anything be confirmed?
a fantastic job! thanks be to everyone on the committee, to everyone who dropped off flyers, to everyone who posted everyday on facebook and to everyone who voted! just one more fabulous reason to love this neighbourhood!
Thanks to the Perth School Yard Committee for doing the legwork and keeping excited enough to vote. Its hard to sustain public interest in projects but you did. Congrats.
A great big shout out to this wonderful area! The effort by the Perth School Yard committee has been fabulous! The voting done by those who live within and around the area, whether or not their children currently attend Perth PS is to be acknowledged too.
Thanks Scott. I'll bring some extra gloves. No extra arms though.
Let's hope the weather stays clear enough for the morning!
I have bags for Railapth Cleanup. Bring gloves and your arms!
Spoke to someone this evening with the Junk Raiders 3 film team.
Here is a link to info on their project last season: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junk_Raiders_2
