Less than a day left but the top 5 are all close to each other so a concentrated vote on Friday morning could change things. So dont let that number 1 ranking fool you....our kids need your vote today, and on Friday morning.

Just over two days left for voting. The Perth / St. Luigi playground has been jostling back and forth in first/second place.

Please make sure you vote on these last couple of days. It could make a big difference, especially if any of the other orgs have a last-minute vote push.

A revitalized playground in our neighbourhood would be amazing.

The voting is going well but it is very important to keep voting every day to build up a margin.

I was involved in another contest like this and one of the groups staged a huge vote getting drive on the last day and went from almost last to first. This is a great project and will help provide a safer and more interesting place for kids to play at school; it benefits the entire community.

    So vote every day.

Please remember to vote everyday!! Support the children of our neighbourhood. I really wish that they never took out the 2 play structures that were in the Perth School Yard. The smaller playground was in the pit right in front of the kindergarten entrances and the one for the older kids was in the area that now houses the smaller playground. There currently is not enough for the children. There needs to be more for the older kids to do. At least they got rid of the rocket ship slide that sat on concrete at the south entrance to the yard just off of Perth.

  • Some recent Junction Triangle news   6 years 6 weeks ago

I've been going to this place an awful lot lately considering its in walking distance of my home and work place.
the environment is really creative and unique, especially for a shawarma place. ive been to ali babas and other shawarma kings but none compare. its a very clean place and im glad people are reporting on them. i always order the falafels, and unlike other places , they do it fresh infront of your eyes. besides that its nice to have a couple flat screens to watch while chowing down. highly recommend this place. 5 thumbs up!

Thanks to everyone who completed the 100 Day Survey. We've heard from hundreds of people about what sevices and features they would like to see in a bigger Perth/Dupont library.
If you haven't had an opportunity yet, today (Wednesday) is the last day to complete a survey. You can complete a survey in person at the library until 6 p.m. or online until midnight. Take the Survey!

    Students At LibraryStudents At Library

Think that in the computer age nobody uses a library? Wrong, in fact MIT believes that the use of libraries in the digital age will actually increase. Recently renovated branches of TPL have seen huge increases in usage. Perth Dupont only has one (!) table for study and three computer stations which are almost always taken. On Saturday these two students improvised and continued their studies. They told me that the had filled out the Library Expansion survey because they value the library and know that it needs more space for study.

Our young people are sending a message about the need for expansion. Help support them by filling out the survey before the deadline on Wednesday night. Take the survey.

It is a fine line between supporting and being honest about businesses and I think we are still trying to figure out how best to approach that. The last thing we want is an un-moderated crap fest posted by unknown people who may or may not have an axe to grind. In the future I think the best policy will be to announce events and new openings etc but steer people to Yelp.ca for example where opinions can be measured in the wider opinion marketplace rather than having undue weight here when they may be a negative or positive solitary post. This year will probably see some upgrades to this site a page to review sites will be part of that.

The bottom line is that this site is run and paid for by one main volunteer and a few small helpers. Moderating the crackpots that we already have takes enough time so your point is well taken and hopefully people can be encouraged to review on a proper review site.

  • Toronto Coffee Company   6 years 7 weeks ago

This reeks of some snobby Roncy review - come on, how about encouraging people to get out, support a local business, and let them formulate their own opinion? (key point here - own opinion...) What is the more important message here - the state of Toronto indie coffee scene and your opinion of that trend, or sending a supportive message to your neighbours about a local business taking a genuine stab at it in our back yard? Let's not be teenagers or snobs at this website - it should be a forum for support.

The 100 Day Survey ends at midnight on Wednesday. We’re looking to hear from more residents of the Junction Triangle about what services and features they would like to see in a bigger library.
Can you help us add 100 completed surveys before time runs out? It’s 10 easy questions and everyone can complete their own survey including the kids.
If you love libraries and want to see the Perth/Dupont branch grow, please take a moment now and ask your family and neighbours to take the survey. It’s a simple gesture that will help demonstrate broad community support in a quantifiable manner (numbers mean something to people who make decisions about libraries).
Many thanks for your help! Take the Survey!

  • New/Renovated Library Pix: Give You Any Ideas?   6 years 7 weeks ago

These pictures show that light and colour dominate new libraries. They look like inviting places with nice spaces for children. Any of these branches would be a great addition to a tired looking section of Dupont Street.
With just three days left in the 100 Day Survey (ends midnight Wednesday), this is the time to add yor voice to the discussion about what features and services you would like to see in a bigger Junction Triangle Library. It's just 10 easy questions that help demonstrate your support for the project http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CX2DKVX
    Many thanks.

Do you know they have a good selection of books in their own book-sharing club? They also have chess boards and other games for whenever you are bored. The teas and the pies are so tasty. Could somebody take me on a date here? :)

Why don't you guys start a meetup group (www.meetup.com) to get more participants? This group deserves more promotion, it is fun and interesting.

  • Redevelopment of the Wallace-Perth Church property (Union Lofts)   6 years 7 weeks ago

    I feel the same way,

If they accomplish what they say they want to based on the plans and design, it's a plus for the area and will add that range of new owners we need, of all age groups, and family configurations

This IS considered downtown TO and our little area has been blessed with no high rise condos when that is what other areas are getting (whether they like it or not), perhaps it's our limited road network that saved us from the intensification that others get, yet we can and will benefit from the increase density

I think its a good addition and much needed
