Hi there! I'm a reliable person from the neighbourhood - I have much more experience with cats than dogs - but perhaps we could meet and see if I get along with your furry friend?

  • After the Games   2 years 38 weeks ago

After the Games are over, the 8th Annual BIG on Bloor Festival will takeover. For two days, Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23, it’s a mile of car-free fun stretching from Dufferin to Lansdowne.

More than 50 original hands-on cultural projects have been commissioned. Make something, learn something, engage and enjoy hundreds of distinct musical and theatre acts, art projects, games, poetry, architecture inventions, one-of-a-kind exhibitions and shops.

Let the kids run safe in Susan Tibaldi Parkette with PlayByNature. Savour Bloordale’s abundant and diverse food offerings, and be introduced to the Bloordale community with improved streetscape, parkettes, and community art.

It's happening a month later this year only to accommodate the Pan AM Games. Just a short walk (or a fast bike ride) from the Junction Triangle, hope you can make plans to checkout Bloordale at its best this summer!

Metrolinx is planning to build a rail bridge through the heart of our community. The current plan offers nothing in the way of benefits for our neighbourhood.
Community representatives from Bloordale, Davenport Village and the Junction Triangle have been meeting over the past couple of weeks to develop a list of community benefits that we can advocate for as a united group. Please join the discussion and add your comments by visiting the Junction Triangle Rail Committee Facebook page. You can find us @ https://www.facebook.com/groups/413180405403017/

  • this month only bar   2 years 40 weeks ago

What is the deal with Leira? Now open though I haven't been able to stop yet. Only an M on the window.

  • this month only bar   2 years 40 weeks ago

Ad reads "Owner Owns Main Floor Bar And Will Lease Back On 5 + 5 Yr Lease". Doesn't necessarily sound like a condition, more like an offer to a potential buyer...

  • this month only bar   2 years 40 weeks ago

One of the conditions of sale is that the current bar owner (the building owner) be allowed a 5 year lease.

I have felings that there will be other news about this location in the near future so stay tuned.

Wicked! So then, to reiterate the previous poster, a proper bar then...I know we have Boo's down the way but a little competition never hurt anyone...

The Hood is already going to have a pizzeria ! The gentleman who took over Leiria Bakery was a chef/pizza maker at Terroni! He's just waiting on his wood burning oven!

  • this month only bar   2 years 40 weeks ago

Beautiful building...great patio potential...hopefully it turns up in better hands...this hood needs a good pizza place...what do you say queen margherita or libretto?

  • this month only bar   2 years 40 weeks ago

Great news - so glad to hear it's for sale! Would be great to walk by there and not get starred at and verbally harassed for once.

  • 158 Sterling Rd. - Castlepoint - Former Tower Automotive site   2 years 40 weeks ago

I'm not too familiar with how this all works...but it seems like another major investor / developer is on board with Castlepoint's re-development of the Tower Automotive site, providing $22M in financing.

More details in the linked press release.

It's Throwback Thursday and the Junction Triangle Rail Committee is reflecting on the man who brought us those massive noise walls former Transportation Minister Glen Murray. We have news about a public meeting regarding the "Not-So-Super Bridge" by the federal NDP candidate for Davenport who is seeking re-election on October 19, MP Andrew Cash. We're looking for a better name than "Super Bridge" because it just doesn't fit something that sucks so bad. There is a discussion happening by residents who are tired of having their bell rung. And we have a follow-up story to the plan last week by the Dutch to make noise walls the final resting place for the dearly departed that could light up our lives. Please come and join us before we run out of hyperbole!

The best chance for residents to discuss the Davenport Super Bridge plan happens tonight (Wednesday, June 24). There will be no Metrolinx power point presentations or "engineering speak." Just an opportunity for residents to share their concerns and determine if the federal Liberal candidate in Davenport Julie Dzerowicz is willing to help.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Perth Avenue Housing Co-op which is located at 120 Perth Avenue (at Bloor). There is a lot at stake with this proposed bridge project for residents in Bloordale, Davenport Village and the Junction Triangle. Hope you can join us!

Thanks for your interest in the Rail Committee TY. We have consulted with our tech expert who says only Facebook pages can be opened to non-Facebook members. The Rail Committee is a Facebook group where everyone (on Facebook) can see the postings and any of our 500+ group members can post material and comments. Facebook pages operate differently and would not serve our needs.

  • Davenport Diamond Grade Separation   2 years 42 weeks ago

please allow access to the facebook page for non-facebook users. I have no account and can't access the page. TY.

Is there a local Liberal who will help residents improve the Metrolinx plan to build a Super Bridge through the neighbourhood? Was it necessary to blow the budget to thank our sponsor with some Junction Triangle apparel? Could noise walls become the final resting place for the dearly departed?

We have Dutch news and a lot more on the Junction Triangle Rail Committee Facebook page. Please join us!
