Saturday's National Post had an article by Leah Sandals, Why Lansdowne is on the up and up.
The article mainly focuses on the local art scene that is migrating to our neighbourhood, particularly from Queen St. West. Three major art projects are mentioned:
As the article says, "Grab a coffee at local fave Yasi's Place and come along."
You can view the article online at the National Post Website, or view a PDF of the article here.
Thanks to Joan for bringing this article to our attention!

This Saturday, June 21st, will be a busy day in our neighbourhood!
BIG on Bloor Festival
The BIG festival starts at 1:00pm, on Bloor St. between Lansdowne Ave. and Christie Pits. Bloor St. will be closed to automobile traffic, but opened up to community groups, local shops and restaurants, art exhibits, performances, and more. At 6:00pm, the whole street will turn in to a 2.5km long dinner party.
Also, artist Richard Mongiat will officially unveil his new murals on Bloor St., west of Lansdowne Ave.
Perth Park Community Festival
The Dovercourt Boys and Girls Club is hosting a community festival in Perth Ave. Park. There will be games, live music and dancing performances, food, dancing, surprise guests, and more.
Have fun!
Over the last week or two, you may have noticed some new murals going up in our neighbourhood. These murals are painted on the concrete walls of the railway underpass on Bloor St. between Ruttan St. and St. Helen's Ave.
The artist, Richard Mongiat, is painting these murals in preparation for this Saturday's BIG on Bloor festival, where they will be officially unveiled.
Walk by and have a look. It's a nice upgrade to the plain industrial concrete look of that underpass.
