Thanks for organizing the great meeting Kevin.
One thing is clear: It's not going to be an easy road ahead. But this community seems up to the challenge. If anyone can get this done it's this group of people led by such great community leaders in Kevin and Scott. Thanks for getting the ball rolling and putting your talents together for another important and worth-while cause.
Thanks to everybody who came out today to get involved with the Perth Dupont Library expansion steering group. We have some really smart and enthusiastic volunteers plus Councillor Bailao. Look on this website over the next few weeks for a new section devoted to improving and expanding our branch and asking for your ideas on what you would like to see in a new facility.
I actually stopped by today and got some take out (Mango chicken, and some spring rolls). The food was actually very delicious as you said, and it exceeded my expectations. And the place looks quite nice and cozy inside, I definitely want to eat in one day as it looks quite comfy. The young lady that was working in the front was very welcoming and kind which was great. I was glad I gave their food a try. I definitely want to order some other items on their menu, there were quite a bit I had wanted to try but only so much I can eat at once. All in all, I wasn't disappointed as you said. Thanks for the referral.
I was just asked to be the Community Blogger for Davenport for the Toronto Star's Speak Your Mind project. I'm in the process of contacting the candidates to talk about the issues they think are of interest to Davenport residents, but I also want to talk to you - the very residents who will shape the Davenport political landscape on October 6. So, have at it - let me know what you're thinking, what you want from our candidates and what questions you'll be asking when the candidates come knocking. Note that as you answer, I may be quoting you in my posts, so please be mindful of personal attacks and other loaded comments. Looking forward to hearing from you!
The addition or removal of a parking prohibition has to go through Council. The removal of the Saturday prohibition will happen shortly. With the church it was almost impossible to find a parking spot anyway.
we live on edwin and you must have a permit to park from midnight until 7am, which is fine when we need to park for at least a week but a bummer when we only need parking for one night, or a few hours.
i will share with you my occasional "free" parking secret. although now that you can finally purchase 1 day parking passes, we likely won't use it anymore. in a pinch, (and only for one night because we didn't want to pay for a whole week when we only needed to park for one night!) we have parked in the lot where the shwarma place is and have never received a ticket.
For future reference, if any JT resident has a public safety announcement or news, please post it up in an appropriate forum, such as this one. This forum is titled "Noise and Safety".

It couldn't have been better even if you'd brought a jar of pickles to share Jeff! :-) Love that line about going to your house for a coffee or a pickle!
The attendance couldn't have been better and I'd like to thank all the folks from the neighbourhood who showed up and lent the film and the issue their support. Also I thought Richard did an excellent job as MC and Vic took a lot of really good photos. Thanks everyone!
Jeff
To my knowledge there isn't anywhere in the city wherein you can park overnight on a city street without having a parking permit. It has been that way for some time. Before the online parking permits, my guests used to have to park at a Green P lot.
Good to see the parking permit system is online. We had a good run of evading the enforcement, but have been tagged a couple of times in the last couple of months when out of town guests visit. Nice to have the option to easily get a permit, instead of paying $30!!
The reason I say I hope he doesn't wear the uniform when door knocking. There might be residents who come from countries where the government, military or police were corrupted or were victims of abused(Mentally, physically or sexually) by people in uniform. JF
I always notice dumb scribbles all over the bridge - not art. Such as, loves ", that kind of thing. Dumb sentences. Definitely not art, just kids writing whatever they feel like on the bridge. Very annoying.
I'm sorry for the muralist's sake. I saw him working on the wall of the autobody shop at the bottom of the bridge stairs, and he put a lot of effort in, only to have someone tag it.
I meant to write, a small section of *Perth Ave* by Antler. Anyway, thank you for your kind feedback. I suppose the only way to voice my opinion will be to write the local councilor.
Yes, I've lived on the street for almost 12 years. You used to be able to park overnight on Ruskin as long as you moved your car by 7:30 or 8. I think you could also park on a small section by Antler. It's very frustrating that they've changed this, and there are no signs to indicate that you can buy a one night parking pass online. I think it's absolutely ridiculous. Now that the church is moving out, it's about time they got rid of the 1 hour Saturday parking limit too. Absolutely absurd that you cannot have a guest park for more than 1 hour on the weekend.
I cant see the Chairtex building being a good location for the reasons you mentioned. It would make sense to use space at Shoppers or even at the south LCBO site. Maybe they expect people to park at shoppers and walk north.
There was an amazing turnout for Jeff's film on Tuesday night. The Revue Cinema was packed, standing room only! I was heartened to see how much this issue still means to people, and to see how much they enjoyed Jeff's hard work. Andrew Cash, Cheri DiNovo, and Ana Bailao participated in a lively Q&A afterwards.
I don't think Chairtex would work. Where would people park? There are rush hour restrictions on Dundas that would make parking a nightmare. Maybe something in the Fresh co/ Shopper property?
Thanks for organizing the great meeting Kevin.

1900 Davenport (at Symington and Davenport) is holding a candidates debate on Monday September 12th.
So - what does that make the one on Symington?!

The Liberals really aren't making a huge effort to win votes along the train corridor, are they? http://www.570news.com/news/national/article/273658--cp-exclusive-libera...

Yup, Ruskin Ave, you sure could. Don't know when that changed. I'm pretty sure I parked my parents car there in 2010.
It is far away, but it is free.

I was not aware there was ever free overnight parking on Perth.
You can now buy one night parking passes online at the City site:

That building seems a little big for a Beer store I would think. What ever it turns out to be I hope it keeps it's facade.
